Questions people ask

How is this different from a chore chart?

A chore chart answers "who does it." This answers "what actually needs cleaning, how deeply, and when it comes around again." It's about the work itself — the order of operations, the hidden layer behind and under and inside, and the cadence each job belongs on. Sharing the work is covered in one focused section with a fair-split worksheet and an age-by-age ladder, but the other twenty-seven sections are about the cleaning.

I've tried cleaning schedules before and they never last. Why would this?

Because most schedules are written for someone with two free hours by someone who assumed you had them. Section 2 makes you write down your real weekly minutes first, and every later page shrinks to fit that number. Missing is designed in — a skipped slot is skipped, never stacked — and there's a pre-written bad-week minimum for illness, work crises and the months that go sideways. The system is built to be resumed, not restarted.

Does it work for a small flat, or only a house?

Both. The five-zone rotation scales: a one-bedroom flat runs the whole thing in roughly twelve minutes per zone, which makes the entire home guest-ready every week for about an hour of total effort. The room checklists tell you to cross out what doesn't apply — there's no assumption you own a garage, a patio or a spare bathroom.

Is any of this professional cleaning or safety advice?

No — it's a planning and organizing aid. Products, appliances and surface materials vary enormously, so the kit tells you to read and follow every product label, test on a hidden area first, ventilate, and never mix cleaning chemicals. Mold, pests, gas, electrical and anything at height are flagged as jobs for qualified professionals rather than a checklist.
